Sitting close to the shoreline, the house streetu round a courtyard and up and down the terrain of the plot. The courtyard is thus protected from the severe northeast wind while opening up to the west to maximise sun exposure, particularly benefiting from the long hours of evening sun during the Icelandic "white night" summer.
A pleasantly-sloped ramp makes the communication between all the levels. A spacious private master bedroom area is located in the higher level, while the other private rooms are distributed along the ramp. Two vertical slits on the imposing volume of the east façade provide these rooms with daylight from the morning sun. The public areas are at sea level facing north, so that on one can glimpse the Snæfellsnes peninsula glacier, across the Faxafloi bay.
